Warriors off to shaky start in 2010
The Contest Warriors are off to a slightly shaky start this season, and are trailing the Challenger crew going into the July 18th race day in Granaway Deep. The crew has dealt with a few unforced errors which have turned firsts into seconds.

The crew is determined to lift their game and come out strong for the RBYC hosted racing on July 18th in Granaway Deep - hope to see you there!

Warriors fall short...just!
The Contest Warriors fell 3/4 points short on their bid to defend the Coronation Cup this year. Challenger II from Sandy's Boat Club sealed the victory on Sunday in a St. Georges harbour amid unpredictable wild conditions. Over the course of the three races the wind was anywhere between zero to 20 knots - with some higher gusts.

Exciting racing in Granaway Deep
Racing in Granaway Deep got under way slightly after 12 noon with 4 boats suited up in #3 & 4 rigs. Victory declined to start after finding their #2 rig too large for the strong puffs on the race course. Contest started up towards the front led the pack and kept close watch over Challenger who leads the overall series. Elizabeth found trouble on the first run to leeward and sank after applying some promising pressure to Challenger in second place. The finishing order was Contest, Challenger, Bloodhound.

In the second race Contest started at the back of the stakeboat and following a great haul off the line, ran into the back of Bloodhound who had a terrible haul just ahead. Contest was required to do a penalty turn right away and struggled to regain lost ground in the lighter breeze on the course. To add insult to injury the crew lost their large kite on the first downwind of the 3/2 course as a small sister clip at the head of the kite snapped under the strain. This forced the crew to sail the first downwind without a kite as they rigged a spare for the next downwind leg. Up front Victory, Elizabeth and Challenger were having a close battle with the lead changing multiple times. In the end the finishing order was Challenger, Victory, Elizabeth, Contest, Bloodhound.

The third and final race of the day was again on a 3/2 course and Contest lead from wire to wire. Challenger worked their way through the fleet to gain a second place finish and gain high point boat of the day. This adds ¾ points to their overall lead over Contest for the Coronation Cup. Elizabeth came 3rd while Bloodhound battled over Victory to claim 4th spot. There are 8 races left in the season which is lining up to be an exciting finish.

Next race day is hosted in Mangrove Bay on August 23rd, races start at 12, 1:30, and 3pm.
